Lauren Scruggs Kennedy
I was born in Redondo Beach and raised in Dallas, so I guess you can call me a California girl whose roots are deep in the heart of Texas. My love for fashion has been tightly sewn through interning in wardrobe for the CW’s Gossip Girl, the Michael Kors showroom in New York City, and reporting for New York, Paris, and Montreal Fashion Weeks.
My first book called Still LOLO was published in 2012, and my second book, Your Beautiful Heart, released in March of 2015. Bethany Hamilton and I also started a yearly retreat for girls that have lost a limb to create a community and encourage one another on our journey. I recently launched the Lauren Scruggs Kennedy Foundation, which exists to bring hope, restore dignity, and ignite faith in girls and women with limb loss by providing beautiful cosmetic coverings for prostheses. I also just launched Stranded, a loose powder dry shampoo for all hair types.
I am a Maryland girl, currently living in an Annapolis apartment. Writing for LSK is such a gift and I am so thankful for the opportunity and my friendship with Lo! My full-time is job is as the PR & Social Media Specialist for Hobo– a leather handbag and wallet company. I have worked there for five years and absolutely love it!
Along with fashion, I am also passionate about cooking and home decor. Discovering a new recipe, shopping for the ingredients, and creating a meal brings me so much joy. I am a big believer that our homes should be our happy places, and that is definitely the case for my apartment.
Fun fact, mornings are my favorite. I make coffee, light a candle, turn on worship music, and spend time reading the Bible. Then I work on the blog, do chores around my apartment, and go down to the gym. Rising early starts my day in a way that is good for my soul! xo -M
