thoughts// unplugging for the holidays

even though we are in majority experiencing a slower pace this year with all of the covid regulations set in place, does anyone else feel just as busy? it seems as though we have settled into a new normal, a new corona routine, and it can still feel as though we are using every minute of every day. there are so many silver linings in this time of self reflection, allowing the deep dive of transitioning our lives to doing what brings us joy and develops us into more authenticity, and there seems to be a greater awareness of checking in on others. on the flip side, when we were so used to moving at such a fast pace before march, it can feel hard and even scary to shut our minds down. in our current culture, it is so easy to fill our time with record breaking screen time, mindless hours on pinterest, and the urge to watch every show on the multiple streaming platforms. by the way, i am totally speaking from personal experience.

this holiday season is one like no other. we all are cancelling travel plans, omitting yearly events, and keeping gatherings super small and extra intentional. so many feel lonely or discouraged. in whatever you may be experiencing, i wanted to encourage you to rest your mind and feed your soul.

here are some suggestions that may help create space to disconnect and recharge, while fully savoring the holidays, even if it looks different this year//

set boundaries on your phone including social media limits that you can arrange in settings.

establish a morning routine - go outside, drink hot lemon water, meditate and pray.

start journaling - whether you are experiencing loneliness or the feeling of overwhelm from lack of personal space, writing it out seems to release it in such a refreshing way!

give yourself permission to pause and enjoy doing nothing.

fill your home with holiday tunes and bake something festive. schedule memorable holiday things even if it is just you!

start a puzzle or go for a walk every day in the neighborhood. i love something that takes our mind off of technology!

takecbd if you struggle with anxiety. it will support a rested mind and peaceful sleep. my swear-by cbd brand is equilibria cbd

think of new ways to connect with others virtually and bring brightness to others.

i pray that you all have such a joyful christmas and a beautiful rest of 2020.

xo, lauren
