POSTPARTUM ESSENTIALS
this healing has been different from the first but maybe a bit easier. i will never forget my doula teaching me how important it is AFTER BIRTH to nestle into the home, listen to your body, rest as much as possible as your bones and organs go back together (this takes about 40 days) and snuggle your sweet baby with all of the love. it is not the time to rush back into the rhythm of life but rather to ground and nurture.
i wanted to share some key things this time around that have been so helpful this first week of recovery.
frida pads // these are toxin free and are a 10/10 with absorption + they are really comfy
frida mom cooling nipple pads // the pump in the hospital really did a number on my nipples, and these bring so much relief after pumping or feeding
wonderbelly antacid // i still have had lingering acid reflux post birth and this has been my best purchase
the cutest nail trimmer ever // i could not believe how long poppy’s little nails were after birth and these have been so gentle to trim them down
c-section recovery band // you can make it hot or cold and it has helped so much with swelling (i use this during the day)
heat pad // i have been wrapping this around my incision at night and it has felt so healing
goop exfoliator // the hormonal sweats are a little crazy a few weeks after delivery, and i love exfoliating with this in the shower after i wake up
breast oil for uncomfy boobs // i cannot say enough good things about this; the oil blend is designed to boost the flow to the breast and lymph area, while breaking down harmful toxins, softening dense, fibrous tissue and relieving discomfort often associated with tender or swollen breasts
amazon sink // this is a dream for washing bottles because it is like it’s own little sink and feels extra clean
humidifier // little poppy had some congestion from her tubes in the nicu and this has helped flush it all out so quickly and make her extra comfortable
baby brezza bottle washer pro // this is a DREAM
hypervolt // my hips and back have been really achy and this brings so much relief and is doula approved for post c-section/birth
rebecca lymph drainage at home // i did this two days after birth; it improves circulation and metabolism, flushes away all of the excess fluids from the IVs, helps to rebalance hormones and gets the body into healing mode
the stanley cup // there really is something magical about this cup and it helps me remember to stay super hydrated while i breastfeed
