The Week Of Family, Cooking, and Shopping
This week is definitely the week of family, cooking, and shopping. It is such a special time of year, but it can also be crazy busy. We are praying over all of us that we cling to calmness and not let the crazy-busy make us crazy! It is easy to get caught up in all of the pressure of hosting perfectly, cooking perfectly, decorating perfectly, shopping perfectly and everything else. However, rejoice, because we can say goodbye to all of the false perfect goals because they just aren't true. What is true is that this week is full of fun opportunities to be with loved ones, cook and eat delicious meals together, and do some gift shopping. Above all else though, we are called to give thanks abundantly this week. So, instead of getting caught up in the crazy, let's exist in the crazy (and even enjoy it) while standing firm in thankfulness with a gracious heart and a spirit of calmness, love, and joy. With that being said, we are of course going to list out a few sales that we are looking forward to (the ones that we know of so far!) + recipes that are on our want-to-cook list this week and weekend. Scroll down for more, xo.

long weekend = big sales!
I feel like every retail store uses any and every excuse they can for a sale. Which I'm completely okay with. This weekend in particular, was Valentine's Day, and President's Day tomorrow! I've done a little shopping guide for you of all the amazing sales going on (with some of my favorite pieces included). For the winter sale items: this is the perfect time to grab some adorable sweaters for next Fall or buy that coat you had been eyeing all season. A lot of stores too (LOFT) are doing sales on their new arrivals as well! Happy Shopping!
- LOFT - 50% off select new arrivals, an additional 60% off sale!!
- Madewell - Extra 30% off sale styles with code "AMOUR"
- ASOS - 20% off with the code "PREZDAY20"
- Milk & Honey Boutique - Free shipping with code "BEMINEXO"
- Nordstrom - up to 40% off shoes! No code needed!
Here are a few of my top picks from these sales![show_boutique_widget id="223155"]
40% off...everything!
While I do 99% of my shopping these days online, my husband decided today we should do some Christmas shopping at the mall. On a Saturday, just 12 days before Christmas. Needless to say it was a psycho experience, but I did stumble across the LOFT 40% OFF sale and picked up a few goodies!
lou & grey: spreading style, comfort, and joy.
On Friday, I took a super short California road trip to Pasadena to visit a shop that was on my radar: Lou & Grey. I immediately fell in love when I walked in the door: the art on the walls were so organically chic, and the racks were lined with the most fabulous neutrals + the service made for the most lovely shopping experience. #inheaven || Scroll down for snaps and links to my favorite looks, which include my new live-without jacket and joggers. Greys For Days
I've never been a huge fan of cold weather, but one thing I do love about the winter is this: layering. Check out my grey on grey look below (which also includes the coziest cowl neck sweater for less than $20!) "Coatigan" - Ann Taylor LOFT | Cowl Neck Sweater - Forever 21 | Black ripped skinnies - Nordstrom | Fringe leather booties - Sam Edelman | Necklace - Kendra Scott | Clutch (similar / similar) - Hobo | Ring - Kendra ScottI will be the first to admit, I was hesitant to jump on the "super distressed denim" bandwagon (I think because I'm secretly an old soul, but...). Once I tried on this pair, it was love, and I've been so surprised at how much I can wear them with and how often I wear them! Everyone needs that "go-to" pair of pants, for going out, or a casual date, or running errands.
LOFT Friends & Family Sale!
So, I may or may not have had a little too much fun shopping the LOFT Friends & Family sale today! The entire store (and website) are 40% off, including sale items! Perfect time to refresh your winter wardrobe, or start stocking up on gifts any girl would love! I think my favorite thing from my shopping trip today is these camo pants (below). They come in their "relaxed skinny" fit, which is my favorite.Shop the rest of what was in my shopping bag today here! (I'm sure you'll be seeing these pieces in posts to come :)).[show_shopthepost_widget id="387248"]
Real life wardrobe
Let's be honest -- we all have those days where we don't feel like wearing leather shorts or heels or something super trendy. There are days when we're not feeling creative with our outfits and need something simple, yet still chic and fashionable. To avoid reverting to yoga pants and a t-shirt on these days...I'm providing you with my go-to outfit when I'm not feeling creative: white button down blouse, a great pair of skinny jeans, and flats. You can't go wrong.White Button Down Blouse - LOFT / Dark-wash skinny jeans - LOFT / Hobo cross body bag / Michael Kors Watch / Tory Burch FlatsTrue story: I've had these dark wash skinny jeans from LOFT now for 3 years and they're still going strong. They're my go-to pants whether its for work, going out, or a just a casual lunch with friends. My Tory Burch flats were probably the best Christmas gift I've ever gotten, from my mother-in-law! They may cost more than some of my favorite Target flats, but they are so comfortable, look great with everything, and will last forever. I got them in this camel color because its super versatile, and one of my favorite colors. And, a good sleeveless button down blouse is necessary for every wardrobe. It looks great by itself but is also perfect for layering under cardigans or pullover sweaters. (The one I'm wearing here is currently on sale for $12!)So there you go - now you have no excuse to grab your yoga pants and hoodie when you're feeling lazy! I'll be the first to say though...there is always a time and a place for yoga pants though. No shame.
