Why We Love Everlane Shoes
Today we are sharing why we love Everlane shoes. We knew that we liked them, but now that Lauren and I each own a few pairs and have worn them many times, we are completely sold. Everlane shoes are responsibly made, thoughtfully designed, and made out of high quality leather. They are also extremely practical, versatile, stylish, and comfortable. Comfort is so important when it comes to shoes. Long gone are the days of sacrificing comfort for style. We want a stylish shoe, but comfort is #1. Comfortable shoes allow us the freedom to enjoy long days, go exploring, travel well, be pain-free, and so much more. In addition, we are big believers in investing in quality shoes, rather than buying a lot of not-so-great shoes. Everlane fits the bill for quality shoes that will last. Below are a few of our favorite Everlane shoe styles.

gifts for the littles.
This month was so incredibly special. I flew home to Dallas because my twin sister, Brittany, and her sweet husband, Shaun, were about to have their first little one. Initially, it was so surreal to process that my sister was pregnant. It is such a beautiful reality, yet at the same time, I feel like there is no way we could be old enough! Who's with me?So I must admit, I have a slight obsession with buying baby Kate bows. I can't stop, and it's becoming a problem. This store is my weakness, and the size of these bows gives me all the feels, but these fringe booties are the cherry on top. Thank you, Minnetonka! Baby Kate is going to look beyond precious in these little shoes, and I couldn't help but introduce her early to these perfectly cozy fall booties. That's one of my jobs as an aunt, right?Let's talk baby gifts. Because I don't have any toddlers running around, I am going to stick with what I have become most familiar with (babies!). To start off, I believe books are the sweetest presents for a little one. Reading is so important for their minds and creativity even when they are still itty bitty. A child can never have enough books in my opinion! That is one of the things I remember most as a child - my parents reading me stories! Christmas Eve was always my extra favorite, too, because we would all snuggle up in bed and read some holiday classics. It was the perfect way to count down Santa's arrival. See some of my favorite books below; classics included.
I must admit that I have a major love for baby blankets. They are so adorable and snugly and never go to waste. An extra bonus: they are the cutest accessory on a stroller or in the nursery. See my cozy baby quilt picks below.
Clothes and bows are yes, yes, and amen. SO fun! Sorry I am sticking with the super girly gift suggestions, but I am so enamored with hunting for baby Kate, so I am not branching out too much! Are you guys ready for these outfit options? Contain yourself :)
The little extras are so fun. I am so drawn to the precious stuffed-animal rattles or the tooth fairy in a box! See my favorite present picks that would also be perfect stocking stuffers (I can't believe I am saying that phrase already). Hooray for the holiday season!
Naturalizer boot
As a girl who loves and lives fashion, I often get asked the question who my inspiration is when it comes to fashion, or when I first knew I loved fashion. My answers to these questions always comes back to my mom, which is why I am so excited to introduce ya'll to her today in today's post!My mom and I are both wearing the Naturalizer Jordie boot (mine in grey and her's in brown). What I love about the Naturalizer boot is that you don't have to sacrifice comfort for style. We walked around in these boots all day and our feet still felt great at the end of the day!
Sweater | Skinny Jeans | Boot | Hobo bag | Earrings
Another thing that I love about this Naturalizer boot is that it will never go out of style. I'm wearing it now as a 25-year-old newly wed who is a major Dallas and fashion girl, and my mom is wearing them as a new grandmother who also values trends and style! You can shop this boot and more on Naturalizer.com!

favorite gift award
Every year, people ask me what my best Christmas gift I've ever received was. After this Christmas, I can say without a doubt, my new Tory Burch over the knee boots.
Flannel Shirt/Dress | Scarf | Earrings | Lip Color | Boots (similar, less expensive version here) | Sunnies
I love how over the knee boots make such a statement. Even wearing them with a simple flannel shirt totally takes your outfit to the next level. The ones I got are definitely an investment piece but I know I'll be able to wear them for years to come!
What about you? Let us know what your favorite gift this year was!
xx, lauren

gift guide: for the men
Is it just me, or are men just hard to buy for? Guys for the most part are so simple and seem to be content with what they have, so it's difficult to think of anything but the typical to give. My goal each year is to think outside the box and give something useful, yet thoughtful. Does he like golf? Get him a new driver, golf bag, or fun accessories. Did he just start a new job? Get him a great pair of work shoes, ties, and nice clothes. Does he travel a lot? Bose speakers, an iPad Air, or a travel bag are always good options. Check out some of my favorite presents to give the guys!1. For the guy that loves a cold drink, especially a Moscow Mule. S/2 Antiqued Copper Mugs2. For the man who loves biking. P.S. Alberto Fermani Boots + a Coupon Inside!
Hey wintertime, what thrills me the most about you besides the salted hot chocolate, cozy big-blanket-worthy fireplaces, and holiday music to welcome the chill is…drum roll please…BOOTS. From ankle booties to over-the knee riders, I can legitimately say I adore them all. Each silhouette is fitting for the specific design of the day: casual, dressy, or some where in between. So, I must admit: as fall tumbles into a snowy season, I try to investigate the market for a designer that could become my new favorite. So may I introduce you to this lovable brand? Alberto Fermani is the Italian name that is worth scribbling down in your iPhone notes section or at least on a sticky note! Bergdorf, Neimans, and Nordstrom all agree.Good news. I am a fan of these boots because they resemble absolute quality alongside style.

Merry Janes: Local Artists + Painted Shoes (TOMS included!)
Making something local global seems to be the name of the game in the coming times. We are tired of the "everyone has that" item. We want the undercover, hole-in-the-wall, unique thing with some local love. Is there a story behind it? Even better. A few weeks ago I stumbled across Merry Janes. Founder Jane Alvarado has a keen eye for awesome soles as well as a talented artist radar, and it was when she decided to put the two together that this genius collaboration was born. Hello gift idea!
Jane's Motto
How many times have you heard someone say “ I love your shoes?" While not directly in your sight range, your shoes are rarely missed. I have always loved shoes, and I want them to make a statement about me and how I am feeling on a particular day. My motto: keep the clothes classic, and let the shoes do the talking!
The Story and the Company
I was on a girl’s trip last winter with lifelong friends, and the idea to hand paint shoes and boots came to me; it was a perfect “fit”. Merry Janes is a unique company engaging the services of three very distinct artists.[galleryview id= 74]
The Process
Designer shoes are carefully selected. Each pair is then studied to see what colors and design will compliment the style of the shoe. Each pair becomes a wearable piece of art.Our hand painted cowboy boots are quickly becoming our most popular item. We also hand paint TOM’s shoes with school and corporate logos. You can request photos of shoes and boots in our inventory in your size, or special order in colors that you love! You can even send Merry Janes an old favorite and let us paint it for you to match that great new scarf or belt.
The Artists
Joan Huey is our logoed TOM’s expert. Joan has a technique that incorporates several different elements one of which is a special blend of paints to produce a product that shows your school spirit!
Katy Bandish is a canvas artist that pulls inspiration from the things that she loves and enjoys in life when painting magnificent cowboy boots.
Chris Pinales finds that painting shoes brings a new expression to his creativity. The texture of the leather and the lines of the shoe bring a new dimension to his art. Get to creating by emailing jane@merry-janes.com, and check out her website here!
