a new trend: boyfriend shorts.
You guys. Boyfriend shorts are the new craze. They in fact are my new favorite piece of denim, besides these One Teaspoons I splurged on the other day. I have to admit, I often hesitate to rock new trends right when they arise because they are out of my comfort zone. Is anyone with me on that? But when I do, I wonder when I don't do it more often! xoStyling tip: feminize these with a dainty pump.Shop the whole look below. a touch of red
I have always been slightly envious of girls that rock the color red all the time - at work, going out, red nails, red lips...it's never been a strength of mine and I typically shy away from the color. When I do love red though - is with all black. It adds such a bold pop of color and instantly makes any outfit so much more fun and exciting! I am obsessed with this red vest from anthro. I think you could wear it with jeans, a leather legging, or even your favorite workout tights. It's so fun and versatile!

Another essential in my closet is this black ponte pant in stretch twill. You can wear these casual with a big oversized sweater, or dress them up with a button down blouse for work. I have gotten so much use out of mine!

the in-between
Everyone loves Fall for the thick scarves and riding boots and warm flannel. I fall into that category as well, but one thing I love particularly about this time of year is the transition. We're not quite to the flannel yet so our current outfits are a beautiful mix of summer and fall wardrobes. We don't have to say goodbye to the tank tops just yet, because you can still throw a scarf over it and be ready for the day (at least in Texas!). Scarves with tank tops, sweaters with shorts, v-neck tees with fall hats...I love these combos!I had gotten a few requests from my instagram (@laurenkaysims) this weekend about a sweater I wore on a road trip to San Antonio with my hubby, and this is definitely one of the "transition" looks I'm referring to.Sweater - Milk & Honey Boutique / One Teaspoon denim shorts / Madewell Booties / Hobo the original handbagLo and I had recently been talking about her favorite jeans (below) which complete her "transition" look so perfectly! A good pair of skinnies are essential for every Fall wardrobe.Anthropologie tee / Nordstrom feather trim hat / J Brand Jeans / Max & Chloe Necklace / ASOS Retro sunglasses
bundle up.
I was laughing this week when I heard a New Yorker comment on the slight warm front that was breezing through the city. What?? To me, The Big Apple accompanied North Pole temps. When my face was almost too frozen to speak after walking three short blocks, I recognized bundling up was a necessity...like layers upon layers + new rules: no holes in jeans, no public exposure without a massive scarf, no texting without gloves. Oh and I needed to live in a bini (and I did).
