Why We Love Everlane Shoes
Today we are sharing why we love Everlane shoes. We knew that we liked them, but now that Lauren and I each own a few pairs and have worn them many times, we are completely sold. Everlane shoes are responsibly made, thoughtfully designed, and made out of high quality leather. They are also extremely practical, versatile, stylish, and comfortable. Comfort is so important when it comes to shoes. Long gone are the days of sacrificing comfort for style. We want a stylish shoe, but comfort is #1. Comfortable shoes allow us the freedom to enjoy long days, go exploring, travel well, be pain-free, and so much more. In addition, we are big believers in investing in quality shoes, rather than buying a lot of not-so-great shoes. Everlane fits the bill for quality shoes that will last. Below are a few of our favorite Everlane shoe styles.

Naturalizer boot
As a girl who loves and lives fashion, I often get asked the question who my inspiration is when it comes to fashion, or when I first knew I loved fashion. My answers to these questions always comes back to my mom, which is why I am so excited to introduce ya'll to her today in today's post!My mom and I are both wearing the Naturalizer Jordie boot (mine in grey and her's in brown). What I love about the Naturalizer boot is that you don't have to sacrifice comfort for style. We walked around in these boots all day and our feet still felt great at the end of the day!
Sweater | Skinny Jeans | Boot | Hobo bag | Earrings
Another thing that I love about this Naturalizer boot is that it will never go out of style. I'm wearing it now as a 25-year-old newly wed who is a major Dallas and fashion girl, and my mom is wearing them as a new grandmother who also values trends and style! You can shop this boot and more on Naturalizer.com!

Nicole by Nicole Miller x JCP
Happy 10 year Anniversary to the Nicole by Nicole Miller line at JCPenney! This line is so amazing because it truly brings runway inspired pieces to your closet at such a feasible price. The prints and silhouettes are feminine and classic, yet still bold and inspiring. This look I'm sharing with you today is so classic and could totally take you from the office to dinner, whether you're in your early twenties or mid 30's. And that's the beauty of this Nicole by Nicole Miller line at JCP. You will love it, but your mom or mother-in-law will also love it! (And seriously, $50 for a faux leather pant?! Yes please. You cannot beat that).Over the past 10 years, this collection at JCP has transformed with trends, but throughout the entire collection you will see bold prints and feminine silhouettes - making these outfits perfect both for the office or date night.

transition pieces
Printed dress {c/o Show Me Your Mumu} | Aviators | Booties | Leather clutch {c/o Hobo}
It's hard to believe that a lot of kids and students and teachers are going back to school today and the topic of "pumpkin spice lattes" has come back into our conversations! Being in Texas heat, I personally find it difficult to transition my wardrobe into fall. It might not be the smartest move to buy a brand new white dress right now, but I can't bring myself to start stocking up on faux fur vests when its still 97 degrees outside.I instantly fell in love with this printed dress when I saw it online. It's one of those "wear now, wear later" pieces, super flattering, and can easily be dressed up or down! I wore it on date night last Friday when it was still pretty hot, but I know I can still wear it as temps start to cool off as well! (Side note - for our date night we had dinner at Saint Ann in Dallas. How adorable is this courtyard and firepit area?!)I also recently bought these booties and words cannot describe how happy they make me! I love that I could wear them with boyfriend jeans for running errands during the day, or with a dress like I did last weekend for date night!

what's in my bag?
I always think it's interesting to know what other girls just can't leave the house without, so I thought I'd share some of my "must-haves" with you today!
- Favorite phone case - I'm obsessed with all Sonix cases. I love this one because you can still see my gold phone through the case, but it's still protective!
- Little wallet - I recently downsized my wallet and it was the best decision of my life. I typically carry small crossbody bags and having a big wallet just wasn't working for me. (This wallet also just got marked down!). It's small but still holds everything I need it to, and forces me to stay organized!
- Fresh nude lip color - I literally cannot live without this stuff. It feels so good on your lips, it's hydrating, and gives you that perfect summer nude lip color. I wear it everywhere from the grocery store, to work meetings to lunch with the girls. (I also wear it to the pool because it has SPF in it!)
- Dior Addict gloss - another favorite lip color. I have it in the "angelique" color which is also pretty nude, but it has just the remind amount of gloss to it. It looks natural, but still feminine.
- Obviously sunnies (not pictured). I'm currently obsessed with Ditto.com which is an endless eyewear subscription. Unlimited sunglasses that you can swap out for $19/month. Use the code "laurenkaysims" to get your first month free!
What are some items you can't leave the house without?!

favorite gift award
Every year, people ask me what my best Christmas gift I've ever received was. After this Christmas, I can say without a doubt, my new Tory Burch over the knee boots.
Flannel Shirt/Dress | Scarf | Earrings | Lip Color | Boots (similar, less expensive version here) | Sunnies
I love how over the knee boots make such a statement. Even wearing them with a simple flannel shirt totally takes your outfit to the next level. The ones I got are definitely an investment piece but I know I'll be able to wear them for years to come!
What about you? Let us know what your favorite gift this year was!
xx, lauren

Party Planning
It's almost that time of year again - where Hobby Lobby puts their Christmas trees out & radio stations start playing Christmas music way too early...and you have holiday party after holiday party to pick out an outfit for. In my experience, the best way to approach the most wonderful time of year (in regards to your holiday party attire), is to plan ahead! Don't want until the night before your party and then realize you have nothing to wear.Lo & I wanted to help you get a head start on your party-outfit planning and give you two great looks that would stand out at any holiday party!Lo wore this adorable Alice & Olivia skirt to a recent bachelorette party she had in Dallas. The shimmer in the skirt makes it perfect for any holiday party, but the classic shape + great length make it totally work or day appropriate as well. (+ bonus! it's currently on sale!) I love this little crop top with its subtle shimmer, because it makes it so easy to dress up or down. I paired mine with this great faux leather pencil skirt (psst - the waistband is elastic!). A leather skirt is a must for the holiday season - perfect for parties, but you could also wear to the office. I'm also crazy about these color block heels because they are so comfortable, AND they are actually velcro! This feature totally sold me.So there ya go - get a head a start on your "party planning" this season & shop our looks here!:[show_shopthepost_widget id="353680"]
Essential outerwear
There was a time when a girl needed maybe one or two coats in her Fall wardrobe - one dressy, one casual. Done.I love though that this season, outerwear is a huge trend. It's no longer just a basic item you need to keep you warm - it's an outfit-completer. An essential accessory. So, in this case, your mentality with outerwear this season should be "the more the merrier!"I love this black & white coat below because it's lightweight, super soft, and can easily be dressed up or down. (Side note - I'm also crazy about my new relaxed skinny jeans! Finally found the perfect distressed denim).Black & White Coat - Milk & Honey Boutique / LOFT Relaxed Skinny Jeans / Nine West bootiesI was also in Forever 21 yesterday and fell in love with this tweed pea coat and added it to my mental wish list! (+ you can't beat $42.90 for a good fall coat!)And remember this guy? A good leather (or pleather!) jacket is essential to every fall wardrobe.
Back to the basics
Seeing as this is my rookie year at NY Fashion Week, I've had my fair share of panic attacks when trying to decide what to pack. When in doubt though {or, in my case, panic mode}, go back to the basics! Below are some staple items that I knew would need to be in my suitcase, regardless of what outfits I put together. {Also, item #1 is seen below worn by our lovely Lolo!}[show_ms_widget id="5078964" image_id="5254156" width="1190" height="892"]1. This okala pump is the perfect complement to any outfit, and the heel height allows for all-day wear. Lo loved them so much, she bought them in two colors! 2. I've been obsessed with this J. Crew tote for quite some time now {bonus, it's currently 25% off!}. Perfect for traveling and trips when you're needing to look chic on-the-go. 3. I recently discovered these amazing faux leather pleated shorts. The leather gives you an edgy look but the pleat makes them comfortable and still classy - perfect for going from day to dinner. 4. You really can't do NYFW without a red lip! This NARS lipstick in jungle red is my personal fave - bold color, matte finish, long-wear. 5. I'm a sucker for Ray-bans, and this black matte pair keep you looking trendy and classy all at the same time. 6. Lo was so sweet to send me this adorable Ted Baker cosmetic bag for my upcoming trip to NY! I love the gold bow and light pink color. 7. Please, do yourself a favor, and don't travel anywhere without a good pair of flats! My Caroline leather Tory Burch flats were such a good investment and have amazing durability. Be on trend this season and get yours in this cool grey color!Whew. Now that I've got my basics down, it's time to get packing. Happy Fashion Week everyone!
