denim + cable knit
Cable knit sweater c/o Chicwish | Denim skirt c/o Chicwish | Booties c/o Sole Society | Hobo bag c/o Hobo | Sunnies | Earrings
I will be the first to admit - I was really hesitant about this denim skirt trend. I love the 70s vibe of it, but personally felt like I couldn't pull it off. That all changed though the second I actually tried this one on. The combination of high-waisted + A-line basically equals the most flattering thing you could ever put on. I also love this denim skirt because it gives you variety when you don't just want to wear jeans. Dallas has been really slow to enter into fall, so this is a great alternative to dress "fall", without burning up!
I've also always been a fan of semi-cropped sweaters but since I'm tall-ish, I've had a hard time knowing what to pair it with. I love pairing this cable knit sweater with the denim skirt - the skirt is high waisted so I don't have to worry about the sweater being too short, and I think cable knit and denim is such a classic look!

birks and a sweater.
I highly questioned if I wanted to buy a pair of Birkenstocks - I couldn't believe they were coming back; I remember when they were trending in high school! #flashback || I have to say, once I made the purchase, I got hooked again. They are the perfect shoe to pair with anything from an errand-running outfit (see below) to a casual dress. Here is a recent look that fits perfectly for this spring transition + this is my new go-to sweater. [show_shopthepost_widget id="606598"]
sundress & a sweater
I think Spring is one of the most fun times of the year in terms of fashion. After months of layers upon layers and and thick scarves and heavy coats, we're finally seeing light fabrics, florals, and bright colors again. Dressing for spring isn't always easy though - sundresses are on the sales floor but sometimes the temps haven't quite warmed up for this yet. Which is why I'm currently obsessed with throwing a lightweight sweater over a sundress. Or, sweaters with cutoff shorts. The beauty of Spring is getting to mix a little of winter with summer!Sweater: Madewell | Sundress: Madewell | Sandals: Steve Madden | Fringe bag: c/o Hobo (similar here) | Sunnies: Ray-Bans | Lip color: Dior | Earrings: Baublebar | Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington | Ring: c/o Kendra ScottMy favorite thing about this sundress is definitely the cute little open back. The dress is still bra friendly and could be worn to church or brunch, but the small opening in the back just adds a little more fun to it! This is one of those sundresses that you will get SO much use out of!
pop the shoe.
Two weeks ago, one of my closest friends was in town from Dallas, and we popped in the extra-adorable Free People store in Manhattan Beach. I found these pants, and I wear them to snuggle up in at home, to run errands during the day with a great pair of flats, and they are perfect for a dinner date with a pair of heels. Don't you love when an accidental find becomes a staple in your wardrobe? [show_shopthepost_widget id="598575"]
a sweater + skinnies
there's something so wonderful about a good sweater that you can throw on with skinnies and have a complete outfit. yes, it's always fun to dress up and layer and accessorize, but I think there's so much beauty in simplicity as well.

the art of "cozy chic"
I couldn't help but notice, scrolling through my Instagram feed recently, that everyone & their mom seem to be somewhere snowy and beautiful right now. Either on a ski trip or cozied up in a cabin somewhere. While I can't be too jealous because my ski trip is coming up in February!, it made me realize the importance of having clothes that are not just comfortable, but that you still feel cute in.So, whether you're going to the mountains over spring break, or have decided you just don't feel the cutest in your size XL sweatpants and older brother's shirt...I've rounded up some of my favorite "comfy chic" pieces from Anthro & Lou & Grey because I think they are the masters at this look!
Madewell - 30% off goodness!
So yesterday I was at the mall and finished all my Christmas shopping (which, considering it's December 23rd, really isn't that impressive). To reward myself though, I shopped the Madewell 30% off sale and found some new wardrobe faves! I love this plum polka-dot skirt because I think it's perfect for work, but so fun to throw a chunky sweater over it for weekend wear! I knew as soon as I laid eyes on this bon voyage sweater, that I had to have it. I'm crazy about cowl necks and this one is so warm and cozy. I had been eyeing these black booties for quite some time now, and considered the 30% off sale a sign that I HAD to get them! The heel height is perfect and I love that they can be dressed up or down.Really, my favorite purchase from yesterday is my new skinny jeans. I don't buy jeans often but when I do, I wear them forever. I fell in love with the fit of these jeans. I also think the wash is perfect and I love that they're distressed, but not too distressed. If you're in the market for a new pair of skinny jeans, I highly recommend these! And ordering them online is a safe bet because they fit true to size.I wanted to get a picture of my new outfit this morning, and of course getting a picture at home without Beau (my puppy) in it is impossible!

40% off...everything!
While I do 99% of my shopping these days online, my husband decided today we should do some Christmas shopping at the mall. On a Saturday, just 12 days before Christmas. Needless to say it was a psycho experience, but I did stumble across the LOFT 40% OFF sale and picked up a few goodies!
neutral obsessed
Fun fact about Lauren: one of my first retail jobs ever was at Ann Taylor LOFT, freshman year of college. It was a great job where I learned a lot, helped women shop, and really fell in love with the brand. To this day, if I ever need something quick and don't have a lot of time to shop, I know I can count on LOFT - whether it's for work clothes, gameday attire, or just something cozy and casual. The look I'm wearing in this post is head to toe LOFT & I love that it can be work appropriate, but still fun and flirty for a dinner out! Considering my love for neutrals, I instantly fell in love with this mock neck sweater as it has not just one, but TWO neutral colors in it. Mock Neck Color Block sweater - LOFT / Quilted grey skirt - LOFT / Kendra Scott Earrings / D'Orsay Flats - LOFT / David Yurman Bracelet / Michael Kors watch / Kendra Scott Druzy Ring / I paired this mock neck pullover with a fun flirty skirt, which is perfect for Fall. On warmer days you can just wear it as is, and as the temperature cools down, it would be perfect with tights and black booties! What I also love about this outfit too is that you don't have to pick between gold or silver accessories - you can do both!
