Before getting ready for the day, there are a few things I always do that set the tone for my day. Having that special morning time is a gift, and I love to make the most of it. Below is a short list of what my mornings look like.Do you have a morning routine? I would love to hear about it in the comments! xo

Devo time
Having time with the Lord first thing in the morning is a must and non-negotiable for me. It is the sweetest time and starts my day in the best way. Whether it is a devotional or the Bible while listening to worship music, I love this time with Him when I wake up.
Celery juice
Every single day!! You know my love for celery juice from Instagram, this post, and this one. If you are signed up for the Clean Sweep Program, then you REALLY know that celery juice is a must for me (and my digestive system!) first thing in the morning.
Work out
Working out in the morning is a great way to get my day going. Not only is exercise a great way to get the body physically moving and blood flowing, but it clears my mind and relieves stress first thing in the morning. It also doesn’t give me the option to avoid working out because it happens first thing.
Smoothie making
I love making my morning smoothie! I literally look forward to it each morning and I love how this recipe fills me up with so many nutrients.
Time with Jase
Spending time together in the morning before our days get busy is seriously the sweetest. I cherish this time together over celery juice and our smoothies so much!
Answer emails
Last but not least, going through that inbox in the morning is a great way to get into work mode and start checking things off the to-do list!

Thanksgiving Family Traditions

2018_10_16_lolomag11-0257-edit.jpg

Hi guys!Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday spent relaxing and having fun with friends and family. It is such a special, cozy time of the year. When it comes to Thanksgiving family traditions, being home in Dallas, TX first comes to mind! The day before Thanksgiving (AKA, today) our whole family is cooking and baking all day - it may be my favorite day of the year! We always plan the Thanksgiving meal plan a few weeks before, and then we go for it in the kitchen on Wednesday.Every Thanksgiving morning, we wake up in our PJs and watch the parade.  You can guarantee that we will be drinking celery juice while watching! Since we are in Dallas, we go for a long walk almost every day, but specifically on Thanksgiving, we go for a walk to the park in the neighborhood and play football! It’s been a long standing tradition and it is so so fun. But on that Wednesday of cooking, we are in our PJs all day long and most of the day on Thanksgiving :)We also have people over Thanksgiving eve for dinner that had no where to go for the holiday - usually it is close family friends that are not spending it with their kids that year because they are with the in laws or we have single friends over who couldn’t go home to see their family. It is extra special and always such a blast! When it comes to the menu, we honestly always look up new recipes each year. They are all nutrition filled and extra healthy but so delicious! This year, these are a few things we are planning on:A massive saladA smoked tenderloin in the oven all dayA pastured turkeyRoasted sweet potatoesA yummy veggie of some sortDessert from the Sweet Laurel cookbook this yearHomemade breadThis Thanksgiving Day I specifically want to say a prayer for California. It has been such a tough time recently for the State that Jason and I call home between the shooting and the wildfire, and we are thinking of the individuals and families who are walking through loss and pain right now. Praying that God's comfort, love, and strength covers you every moment of each day. With love,Lo.

The Imperfect Art of Seeking Wisdom

When I typed this title at first, I typed the art of seeking wisdom and then I chuckled to myself because it is an art, but it is an imperfect one at best! [show_shopthepost_widget id="3298102"]

IMG_4603.jpg

When I typed this title at first, I typed the art of seeking wisdom and then I chuckled to myself because it is an art, but it is an imperfect one at best! However, the imperfect art of seeking wisdom is so beautiful at every hesitant yet hopeful, slightly uncomfortable yet incredibly helpful, painful yet promising, unwanted yet so needed moment. Every effort of the act of seeking wise counsel is so worth it.The Bible is full of instruction on seeking wisdom. First and foremost, the one who fears the Lord is on the path to wisdom. Fearing God is the first and most necessary step to live a life close to Jesus and needed to obtain wisdom and knowledge. Proverbs 9:10 reads: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. After fearing the Lord, seeking Him always, and meditating on His word, the Bible also instructs us to seek wise counsel. Proverbs 12:15 reads: A fool's way is right in his own eyes, but whoever listens to counsel is wise. This is where community is so important. Having people in your circle that you can count on, trust, and go to when you need guidance is so important. If we are left to a path that we see as right in our own eyes alone, we would essentially be quite lost. This is because we can't trust what we see through our own eyes, since our sight is so severely limited compared to that of the Lord. The Lord makes His way known to us through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and biblically sound counsel from wise people in our lives here on earth. When I picture a person fearing God with their mind, heart, and soul, seeking Him constantly, and then calling on wise counsel from Biblically-minded people they trust, I see a person that is well-prepared and totally equipped to make wise choices and walk through life confidently, faithfully, and wisely.Have you sought counsel from trusted ones in your life lately? Share with us in the comments below about how that experience impacted you and what you learned from it! Prayers and love to all, xo.

Why I Love Weekend Trips To Laguna

3122E8BB-D5C7-47C1-A632-789168AE74B0.jpg

You might have seen on Instagram that Jase and I spent the long holiday weekend in Laguna. It was such a joy as always, so I thought I should share with ya'll why I love weekend trips to Laguna beach so much. It is seriously our happy place!

Reason #1

It is truly the one place I feel like I can completely unwind. My brain shuts down almost immediately!

Reason #2

The weather is always so beautiful, even when it’s gloomy! It’s cooler than LA, so it’s extra refreshing + I love the fresh ocean air.

Reason #3

Jase and I always have the best conversations here, and it’s the most special place to recharge and reconnect when our work schedules are extra busy.

Reason #4

We absolutely love the food and quaint restaurants in downtown Laguna. We feel like we have really gotten to know even the hidden gems.

Reason #5

We love the beach and the peaceful environment that this little beach town is. We just feel right at home, and we always laugh because two days there feels like we were on a week’s vacation!
