denim + tassels

Two things in the fashion world I have a difficult time ever saying no to: a denim dress, and anything involving neon pink. I bought this dress + scarf on separate occasions but actually love them together! This scarf is super lightweight and goes with way more than I thought it would! Here's the great thing about denim dresses: you can wear them everywhere. They can be office-appropriate or "Saturday at the park"-appropriate. They are perfect for traveling, great to wear to a wedding shower. I think every girl needs one in her wardrobe!

packing made easy

I don't know about you, but packing stresses me out. Even if it's for a super fun beach trip or weekend get away. So, if you're anything like me and have a similar packing anxiety, hopefully this packing guide will help you out on your next summer trip! These are a few items I think should be in every girls suitcase for a weekend getaway - whether it's a girls trip, a romantic getaway with your hubs, or a family vacation.

A good pair of slip on sandals:

dressed up denim

I've always been a huge fan of denim - white denim, denim shorts, denim shirts...there's just something so effortlessly chic about it. It was literally love at first sight between this denim dress and myself. I love how the shape makes it so feminine (and flattering!) and that it can easily be dressed up with wedges for a date night, or worn with sandals for casual daywear!

Also, I feel the need to say: I typically don't spend more than $100 on an everyday dress. However, this one really is so versatile and could be worn to SO many occasions - wedding showers, brunch, date night, a casual summer wedding...I knew I would get so much use out of it, so I went slightly above my normal spending range! #worthit

easy chic

I think the word "chic" can be slightly overwhelming and intimidating. We think "chic" means a pair of Jimmy Choo stilettos or a bold red lip color. One of my favorite styles right now though is what I like to call "easy chic". Casual, simple, and yet you still feel your best. My easy chic looks typically incorporate my new favorite pair of flare jeans with a great statement necklace. feminine in floral

When it comes to tops, I have two weaknesses: feminine shoulder details, and anything flowy, which is why I'm obsessed with this off-the-shoulder floral top! Nothing says spring like florals and I love that this one is a soft floral print, and has a subtle/organic look to it. (Also, the price is too good to pass up!)

Boyfriend jeans have also always held a special place in my heart - until I found this pair of "his girl jeans". First of all, $58 for jeans? Yes. Second of all, the fit is SO comfortable, I don't even feel like I'm wearing jeans!

70s love

I'll be honest - 99% of my wardrobe does not include prints or patterns, and if it does...it's something simple like plaid or stripes. I highly value simplicity in clothing. Something about these pants though just caught my eye the second I saw them. I love how 70's-inspired they are, how comfortable they look, and how they're an instant attention-getter! They have been such a fun addition to my wardrobe!

I'm such a sucker too for a good chambray top. I have at least 3 button-down denim shirts in my closet. Felt the need to add a fourth though when I tried this one on - it's so soft, amazing quality and I love how it drapes!

a sweater + skinnies

there's something so wonderful about a good sweater that you can throw on with skinnies and have a complete outfit. yes, it's always fun to dress up and layer and accessorize, but I think there's so much beauty in simplicity as well.

From Trendy to Timeless

Random fact about Lauren: I majored in Apparel Merchandising at Baylor (sic 'em!) and one of my classes was Trend Forecasting. I remember in that class we talked about the difference between trends and staples. For example - a trend is something that is cool for a season, then goes out. Like, way out. Think jelly sandals in the 90's. A staple is something that you can buy and wear season to season because it's classic and timeless. I'm sure you've seen tons of plaid this year, paired with fur (or faux fur!) vests. In my opinion, I think this is becoming a classic look and one that we'll continue to see year after year!

I love this combo (of plaid and faux fur) because it somehow feels cute and comfy, yet chic all at the same time. It's such an easy look to throw on for running errands, or dress it up with a pair of leather leggings for a date night out.

3 Days of Thanksgiving

There might be 12 days of Christmas but there are 3 days of Thanksgiving: travel day, turkey day, and black friday. All of which require their own distinct outfits!
