THE COMFIEST CLEAN BED
sleep is such a gift in so many ways. our body restores during the z’s; it boosts your immunity and the strength of your organs, it revives your energy, and it helps your body function as it is designed to function. a cozy bed plays such a big part in good rest, and creating the comfiest bed takes time and most definitely some trial and error. not only does comfort improve sleep (aka wellness), but on the other hand, the potential toxicity in the things that make up your bed is something that can negatively impact your health.
now is not the time to panic if your bed is not free of toxins, but the best first step is to have awareness and slowly start making replacements. it is so important to go at your own pace because as we all know, bedding is quite expensive.
let’s go through each step of the bed // i hope this gives you a fun guide to build the coziest, healthiest place of rest!
your mattress//
think about it. you are at minimum on your mattress for your entire sleep cycle which is such a restorative time for your health. your mattress is the last thing you want to be off-gassing chemicals. a clean mattress is such an investment but one of the most important ones you can make.
the mattress we have in our home and love:
this option from boll and branch, or this option from avocado green mattress
a mattress topper//
this is definitely considered an extra, but i have to say, it has made a world of difference. we just started using a topper last year, and we feel like we are sleeping on a cloud.
i love this one from parachute
your sheets//
i have tried so many brands of clean sheets, and they have all been comfortable, but nothing will compare to these bamboo sheets. we are a cozy earth home for life.
your duvet cover//
there are so many duvet covers i love, and they are always such a great way to make your bed look like a fluffy palette.
these are the ones we use in our home:
these from the citizenry
these options from parachute home
or these from boll and branch
and these from magic linen
your duvet fill
this is key and not as easy as it sounds. we had the hardest time finding a fill that wasn’t too small for a king duvet cover. i remember doing an ig story about this a few years ago, and so many of you were in the same boat.
i found a solution and was beyond excited!
this duvet fill from boll and branch
other great options are this one from parachute and this one from under the canopy
your sleeping pillows
jase and i tried so many pillows over the years, and we finally found ones that are the perfect fit for us + we value this statement they make: better ethics mean sweeter dreams. these pillows are responsibly sourced from a family farm and are encased in an organic shell. and, of course, they are free of all chemicals. they are available in two types of fill and three densities: soft, medium, or firm.
here are our pillows from boll and branch
other options are these from parachute, these from coyouchi, and these from under the canopy
