FOR TRANSITIONING TO PLASTIC FREE

one of the many blessings in disguise to this last year has been how much our perspective has changed when it comes to the value of things we once took for granted. things like our health to the simplicity of going out–but also other important topics like supporting small businesses, a sense of community amongst facing a shared challenge, taking care of our bodies and what we put in them, and taking care of our planet.

my eyes have been opened to so many of these things. now more than ever i am more aware of what i’m doing, how it’s affecting others, myself, and our planet. one of those things has been transitioning to plastic-free. while i’ve always been an advocate for clean, wholistic living when it comes to the food i eat, to the products i use–just this year i started to become more educated on how what i consume not only affects myself but the earth too.

for those of you who have been following along, you know we’ve been in the process of developing our new clean care line–coming soon this year. a large part of that process has been finding packaging, from bottles to boxes, that are clean for you, and clean for your planet.

did you know that a single clorox wipe takes 100 years in a landfill to biodegrade? it’s truly wild and so sad to think about how this year has impacted the health of our planet, while we’ve been so diligent to focus on the health of ourselves.

while i would never want to weigh one over the other, this problem is a common theme when it comes to the journey of clean living. you begin to discover the long and winding road of items that you thought were clean, and found out you were really compromising one area while trying to promote another. you finally decided to start eating clean and buy a new gluten-free snack that you think is great for you, only to find out it’s loaded with sugar. or you’ve been loading up on cleaning products to make sure you have a safe home, only to find that they’re are packed with chemicals that actually harm your immune system more than help it.

the journey is hard, but you’re not alone. i’m here to be your guide, and together we can do this. one of my favorite things has been writing our clean living guides for you. from how to transition your food with volume one of the clean sweep, and coming soon in april will be volume two with transitioning your products. in the meantime, it is so fun to be able to share with you little ways that i’m continuing my clean living journey, in hopes that you’ll be able to as well.

in the spirit of cleaning living without compromise, here’s a simple guide to taking baby steps towards transiting to plastic-free. while this journey especially is not easy, i am a firm believer that the road to clean living is best taken slow, and with grace. take it easy on yourself as you find products that work for you and those that don’t. as you define what you can get rid of, and what you simply can’t live without. and as you learn new normals that promote the well-being of yourself, those in your care, and your planet.

here are seven items i switched to when beginning the transition to plastic free all for under $30// starting with the most used area of your home, the kitchen.

i love this brand// they have even measuring cups and spoons, dining sets for kids and adults, the best colander. and most of their items i’ve linked here are in sets which makes the switch so much easier.

these are so good for storing food and easy to get right off of amazon.

i love these to take to the grocery store to use instead of the bags they provide + it is so much easier! also on amazon.

for all the things "to go"// these are made with compostable, plant fiber materials.

plant-based trash bags and they are the best// right on amazon too.

compostable and vegetable-based dog poop pick up bags// on amazon also.

compostable trash bags for the smaller trash cans// another amazon find, just to make it easy!
