LAVENDER LEMONADE RECIPE
clean living// food
a few weeks ago we took a weekend trip to OJAI which is just a few hours north of us. we stayed at thatcher house and it was the most magical off-grid experience. the property itself is amazing, and on top of that, we didn’t have any cell service or wifi which really forced us to UNPLUG and ENJOY our surroundings.
THE OWNER OF THE PROPERTY was one of the most special parts of the experience. he taught us so much about resting, living in the present, and eating from the garden. he would make us meals using ingredients he grew on the property.
as an added bonus, he always had his LAVENDER LEMONADE freshly made, and it really refreshed us from the heat and gave us a surge of nutritious energy.
i made sure to snag the recipe and since then have made it a few times at home. i thought i’d share it with you all too for the perfect summer treat.
INGREDIENTS
6 cups water
1/4 cup dried or fresh lavender flowers
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
sugar or stevia to taste (optional)
RECIPE
in a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of the water with the lavender and optional sweetener
bring to a boil and stir until it is an even consistency
remove from the heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes
strain the mixture into a pitcher using a strainer or a nut bag, being sure to remove the lavender flowers
add remaining water and lemon juice
separate into drinking glasses to serve, top with ice and a lavender or lemon wedge garnish; and enjoy
