NYFW: August Getty / Noon by Noor

By Nicole Clevenger

August Getty

BOLD + FIERCELocation: The Salon @ Lincoln CenterAugust Getty’s Fall runway show was one of the most powerful shows I attended at fashion week this year. The models’ outfits and stride syncopated to the crescendo of the music with each passing look. You would have never known that this was only Getty’s second time (and second collection) to be featured in this prestigious event. Celebrities like Kristin Cavallari, Lennon & Maisy, and Whoppi Goldberg came to show their support for the new designer. In fact, Kristin turned heads by wearing one of his more provocative spring 2015 pieces (as seen below. note: that is my blonde head just two rows behind her!). His fall collection can be summarized in just a few words: all black everything. Black leather, black sequins, black fur. Cut-outs were also a common theme throughout his presentation. While I wouldn’t classify this collection as “ready for everyday”, I will say that it makes a strong case that leather accents are here to stay. The woman who is bold enough to wear these fierce pieces is not to be messed with.Kristin Cavallari at the August Getty show:Kristin Cavallari_August Getty 2-23-2015 1-22-35 PM 2-23-2015 1-24-02 PM 2-23-2015 1-24-39 PM

Noon by Noor

Confident + Chic + CharmingLocation: The Salon @ Lincoln CenterNoon by Noor stole the show for me with their feminine silhouettes and effortless elegance as the models confidently walked the down the runway covered in winter roses, jeweled embellishments and floral sequins. I loved how the two Bahrain designers incorporated pops of purple and navy in the predominately grey, white, black and metallic collection. The sleek fabrics have an air of chicness about them while the lavish use of embellishments adds charm to otherwise, minimalistic patterns. The most noteworthy looks for me were the floor length, elegantly embellished evening gowns that put a modern twist on traditionally conservative styles. The woman who is confident enough to wear these strong metallics and embellishments during a more muted season, is a little more daring while at the same time still very charming – I think Olivia Palermo and Coco Rocha would agree.olivia and cocha 2-23-2015 1-40-38 PM 2-23-2015 1-39-28 PM 2-23-2015 1-39-05 PM 2-23-2015 1-38-44 PM[playlist type="video" ids="11618"]To summarize the trends I see for Fall 2015: metallics, pops of color, lots of leather, sharp lines, soft textures, midi length dresses, and my personal favorite – feminine fall florals.

#NYFW - Charlotte Ronson

By: Nicole ClevengerLocation: The Pavilion @ Lincoln CenterCharlotte Ronson’s Fall collection was one of my favorite’s of the season. The reason why I love this collection so much, is because it is totally relatable and everyday wearable. I could actually see myself and many of my “yo-pro” girlfriends wearing her floral pieces to work. Her collection is “inspired by the serenity of nature coupled with an abstract urban setting”. She re-invented spring for fall by embedding heavy military green undertones into many of her pieces. I also absolutely adored the tasseled curled hair, styled by Raphaelle Saint Marshall - the loose curles flowed just as effortlessly as the silk jumpsuits themselves. This collection is for the ulta-feminine woman who wants her clothes to do all the flirting…My favorite looks below:CR - red sweater CR - sleeved dress - wwd CR - Sweaterdress - wwd CR - cutouts CR - blue crop CR - hair CR - floral dress CR - ivory coat CR.favoirte CR.Sequins

NYFW Day 4 || Nanette Lepore

After 4 days of amazing fashion shows, things can all start to blend together in one big {beautiful!} blur. Nanette Lepore's Spring 2015 show was definitely one that stood out to me and was by far one of my favorites. I loved everything from the model's messy chic top knots, the fun music, and of course, the beautiful clothes. From bright neons and silky fabrics, to flirty pleats and bold prints - this collection truly felt like an escape to a tropical island for a fun summer vacation. Here are two of my favorite looks from the collection! bundle up.

Screen-Shot-2014-02-11-at-10.03.07-PM.png

I was laughing this week when I heard a New Yorker comment on the slight warm front that was breezing through the city. What?? To me, The Big Apple accompanied North Pole temps. When my face was almost too frozen to speak after walking three short blocks, I recognized bundling up was a necessity...like layers upon layers + new rules: no holes in jeans, no public exposure without a massive scarf, no texting without gloves. Oh and I needed to live in a bini (and I did).

Tadashi Shoji: Romantic Details

Inspired by the Russian Empire, Tadashi Shoji brought romantic looks to life on the runway this season. Wool lace, high neck lines and long sleeves were spotted along with deep jewel tones, ivory and velvet. The silhouettes were stunning to say the least. Chiffon tops and long gowns graced the catwalk as our heads turned anticipating the next piece to the collection. I personally love the femininity in every detail. While Tadashi was inspired by the dynastic past, the modern day girl can be seen wearing any part of the line. Absolutely gorgeous.Shop the latest Tadashi Shoji collection here.[galleryview id=121]photos: ELLE.com

Valentino Vettori has quite the fashion industry resume, which includes owning the elite Scatola Sartoriale showroom, designing and joining forces with luxury designers such Vivienne Westwood, and using his sharp creative eye to maximize the potential brands in the United States. Talk about a man using his talents.Journey with us backstage at New York Fashion Week as our very own, Shannon Yoachum, interviews this fascinating man of many trades. Be awe-inspired by his minimal, raw and chic (parrot inspired) collection, IMPROVD, where you will see stunningly hand weaved leather, fabrics that are distressed and mixed, and materials that are over dyed!
